DIY Inspiration: Combat Boots

<3 | via Tumblr

One thing that I've noticed the girls at my school wear religiously, but after a while, the boots all look the same and we're all on the hunt to find a pair that look unique and different from the staple brown or black faux leather ones.

Because I love to DIY, here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing on how to add that unique flair to your Plain Jane boots. That is if you have a pair to spare. I would not recommend doing any of these DIYs if you only own one pair because they are a huge staple in one's closet. If you manage to find another pair for a reasonable price, DIY those instead. Just a tip!

After Louis Vuitton debuted their toe cap heels a few seasons ago, it seems as if everyone has been after a pair of toe cap shoes. A funky way to add a little something to your fall boots is to spray paint the tip gold.

Another idea is to add some flower appliques to mimic the embossed Valentino boots. It's definitely something a bit harder to execute, but you'll be rewarded with some wicked boots if you succeed.

This is a super cool way to show a bit of skin (not that anyone really needs to all the way down at your feet) or your socks while wearing boots. Imagine having a some patterned socks peek through the cutouts... wicked.

Once again, another one a bit on the trickier side, but gold hardware's always worth it, right?

Another option is to stud either the side of the boot, the heels, or the toe cap area. Figure out what you want, pick up some studs from Etsy or your local craft store, and you're good to go!

I seriously gotta make me some of these recycled tie shoelaces!

While the other DIY ideas focused on DIY-ing the boot itself, here's one that focused on a different aspect: the laces. This DIY reuses old ties to create a unique look to the boots. If you don't want to go out and find a tie, ask your dad (or boyfriend) if he has one that he wouldn't mind lending to you, not that you're going to give it back.

Anything baroque adds a cool feel to any outfit, so why not add that to your boots?
