Resolutions Diary: A Fresh Start - Part Two

Hi there! You’ve probably noticed how there wasn’t a Resolutions Diary for the past couple of months or so and that’s because my life was all over the place and I felt a bit too guilty to look at the resolutions I made at the beginning of the year. Yes, I know, I’m bad. But at least now, I’ll have you guys to hold me accountable.

Now that I have my goals and mind set in the right direction (and because half the year is nearly over), I decided to launch this little column again. So let’s take a look at my resolutions, shall we?

Style Diary: With a Bang

Hi there! Here I am with another Style Diary for you guys. It's been quite the week for me, but I really can't complain because all in all, while I was incredibly busy, it was just great. The weather was great, the food was great, working out was great, and some pretty awesome memories were made. But let's leave that talk for Sunday, shall we?

It's getting a lot warmer, so I can (occasionally) get away with wearing just a t-shirt outside. I still haven't really brought out the shorts because the wind can get a bit much sometimes, but Canadian weather is getting there. It's getting there, guys.

Treasure Hunt: May 2014

Hi there! So okay, I changed the name of this column. I just wasn't happy with the annoyingly long name "One of a Kind Finds" that honestly didn't sound that great either, so yeah. Like all things I'm unhappy with, I changed it to this - "Treasure Hunt." You know how they (and I) say that we find hidden treasures in stores or whatever? That's where this new name stemmed from and I thought it would be rather fitting.

This month, I have for you ten lovely items that I think are really unique and aren't necessarily things that you stumble upon everyday. Enjoy!

Unique Finds: Ginger Fizz

Hi there! Today, I have for you a short, simple, and sweet post about this new brand I've recently stumbled upon. I'm someone who's really big on prints and while I may not own a ton in my closet, I do have a good collection of pieces with patterns that are simply captivating, in my opinion. When I'm out shopping, I tend to gravitate towards pieces like those.

So when I was online window shopping for some clothes for an outfit collage, I stumbled upon a brand called Ginger Fizz and their clothes are really just fantastic.

The one word that popped into my mind when I first saw their clothes was flamboyant. I know, I know, weird word to use to describe clothes but the prints are so cheerful and colourful that you can't help but think the wearer exudes some kind of confidence. I find that while being confident yourself is the best thing, if you need to dress in bold prints and colours that exude confidence to inherit that confidence yourself, that's not so bad either.

Here are a few dresses that would make me feel like a million bucks to walk around in. Preferably with a heeled shoe, but platforms work, too.

Sunday Funday: May 25/14

Hi there! So remember my super long Sunday Funday about how amazing last week was for me? Well, this one will be considerably shorter (hopefully, for your sake), but it’s been equally amazing. I’m starting to get a bit paranoid because things are going so well, but I’m trying to ignore that paranoia and just enjoy the moment. It’s probably the calm before the storm that are exams and summatives, but I feel like I can concur them a hell of a lot better than I did last time.

For some reason, I feel like this pair of Nikes describes my current state of mind perfectly. I've been working out a lot and it's been feeling sort of magical and amazing, hence the milky galaxy-esque gradient on the sole. And the heart just represents how happy I am right now, you know?

What to Where: Graduation

Grad Cap: Do what you Love
Image via We Heart It
Hi there! This post is finally done and I couldn't be happier. It took a lot longer than I meant it to, but now it's out there for you guys to read, so I'm happy.

I know that in the States, you've probably already had graduation, but here in Canada, there are still a few weeks of school left, at least in where I live, so I figured that there was still a point in posting this late.

For graduation this year, I just had this vision, I guess, of white dresses, so I decided to pick out three white dresses and style them different ways for the occasion, so here they are!

Why, Hello Again.

Across the Universe
Image via Favim.com
Hi there! So I know that I haven't talked to you guys since Monday and I'm really sorry, but something just came up and this post I've been working on is just taking a bit longer than I thought it would. I usually say these things on my Twitter (so if you wanna go follow that...), but I know that many of you follow me on there, so I figured I'd just let you know here this time, especially since I missed today's post as well.

Just a quick FYI, this doesn't count as one of the posts in my schedule, just a quick little "Hey, I'm still here"-type thing, you know?

So yeah, I'm going to be posting what I missed (I'm NOT going to skip over them like before) very soon. Maybe a post tomorrow (aka Saturday)? I don't know. I'm not going to make any promises about the extra posts, but I'll try my very best, no matter how busy I'll be because you guys are all really important to me and I really appreciate you all. Really. :)

Thank you so much for reading (and for being such patient creatures)!

Top 5 Wardrobe Essentials

Untitled | via Tumblr
Image via We Heart It
Hi there! The other day, I got a request from a good friend of mine to do a wardrobe essentials post and I thought why the hell not? We could even make this a regular seasonal thing every year, too.

I was originally going to pick out ten things that I thought were necessary in every girl’s closet, but I wanted to make this as specific as possible, so I narrowed it down to five. I know that there are a lot of these posts out there in the blogosphere and YouTube, but I hope that you’ll be able to find something new in this anyway. So here it goes. Top 5 Wardrobe Essentials: Style Generis Edition.

Sunday Funday: May 18/14

Hi there! So this is going up a teensy bit late, but my excuse is that I’ve been a bit busy frolicking around Toronto yesterday, so I couldn’t squeeze in the time to write this. I have a lot to tell you about for this one, so you have been warned. I repeat, you have been warned.

Let’s start at the beginning of the week, shall we? In all honesty, not that many exciting things happened earlier on, but school has been going really well for me. All of my classes this semester are all pretty relaxed and I don’t have a ton of stress school-wise on me anymore. Sure, school added with all of my other extracurriculars can get a bit overwhelming, but once I make myself get my crap together, everything works out pretty well. Everything is just going really, really well right now and I couldn’t be happier. Well, I could and I hopefully will be happier, but let’s just stick with how I’m just very happy right now.

Style Diary: Twin Lilac Skirts

Hi there! Now that I’m only posting four times a week, I’ll post an outfit post like this one every two weeks instead of every week. I’ve missed writing this series last week, so I’m glad that it’s back.

It’s getting so nice out where I am and the weather is just absolutely lovely. Spring has decided to come after all. I decided to take out this lilac faux leather skirt that I got back in September but haven’t worn until now. My friends and I decided to go to dinner that one day and since we were already in the area, we went to Urban Outfitters and my best friend and I decided to get matching skirts.

3 Ways to Wear: Kimonos

Hi there! So a while back, I wrote all about my love for kimonos and I haven't fallen out of love for those lovely pieces yet, so here's the follow-up styling post that's long overdue. I've picked out three kimonos that are all pretty different from each other, so hopefully you'll be able to find something that suits your taste. So let's get into it!

Prom Style Guide 2014: MET Gala-Inspired | All Under $250

Piccsy :: Something Beautiful
Image via Piccsy
Hi there! I know that some of you have probably already had your prom because apparently in the States, prom season starts much earlier than here in Canada. So I'm sorry if I missed your prom, so next year, I'm going to try to start the prom posts a bit earlier.

The MET Gala happened last week and I figured, "What better way to get prom inspiration than to look at photos from what is essentially fashion's prom?" So that's what I did and I came up with three outfit recreations of my favourites from the night. If you have any requests for more outfits, please do let me know! But for now, let's get into it!

Sunday Funday: May 11/14 | Mother's Day

Home
Hi there! Okay, so I’m sorry first of all for not posting on Friday. Something just came up and made it kind of impossible to make the time to post, and for that, I’m just sorry. Unlike before, I will make it up to you guys and post an extra day this week, probably Thursday or Saturday.

Anyway, lots happened this week and it was a pretty good week, I’d say. Not that many exciting things happened during the week like school-wise (it was mostly my weekend that made me very happy) other than how in Business we started working on our website. Judging from how I’m a blogger, it was a pretty exciting thing for me. We were supposed to use Google Sites first, but after fiddling around with it, I just got fed up with it because it feels like the things you can do with it are so limited and the site just looked ugly no matter what I did to it, so I just ditched that program and managed to convince my teacher to let me use Wix, which is so much better and cleaner, and it’s super easy to use, too.

All in all, I am very happy with that class right now, and just school in general, honestly. It makes me really sad to think about people who just hate school (which is the majority of people) because it’s something that I really, really enjoy and I wish I could spread that joy to everyone, you know?

I Want Her Closet: Emma Stone

Hi there! I first heard of Emma Stone was when she rose to fame with Easy A and I remember thinking that her acting was just brilliant and her humour was the best I'd heard in a while. In short, I loved her and her exuberant personality both on screen and off.

Emma is known for her cool and minimalist New Yorker style, but it wasn't something that I'd noticed until more recently and I'm kind of in love with it. It's not too fussy, is super simple and looks really comfortable. As usual, I picked out a couple street style looks and a red carpet one out of all of my favourites. Later, I'll do a Looks for Less post, so at the end, just let me know which outfits you'd like to see recreated whether or not I included it in this post. So let's get into it!

Motivational Monday: "I Want to be FAMOUS."

Image Credit: Classy in the City
Hi there! A couple months back, my English teacher told us that most teenagers nowadays when I asked about their career plans just wanted to be one thing: famous. A survey done on UK students had 54% of students answering that they planned to become famous by appearing on reality TV shows, or dating celebrities, and other tactics like that. Honestly, shouldn’t that be a bit, I don’t know, sad?

I’ve always been someone who had big dreams. When I was younger, even when I was getting influenced by other people to achieve something that I hadn’t realised I was necessarily that interested in, I still planned big and wanted to do something significant in the field. I never settled for something average or ordinary. Which is why it’s such a shock to me that such a big chunk of teenagers are ambitious but in my opinion, in the completely wrong way.

Sunday Funday: May 4/14

Hi there! Holy moly I just had the craziest week and weekend and just ugh, life’s been crazy. So many amazing things happened this week and I’m honestly just on top of the world right now. I’m that happy and it feels just spectacular.

Style Diary: Leadership Camp!

Hi there! It’s been raining for a good chunk of this week where I am, but it finally let me, so I managed to get some decent shots, thank goodness. Unfortunately, this was for a school project and I am literally writing this minutes before I have to leave my house for a camp this weekend, so I'll post more of this outfit once I get the chance! Sorry in advance, guys.

This weekend, I’m headed to this thing called Leadership Camp at my school. It’s like an overnight camp where you basically just do fun activities and bond, as I’ve been told, with other students. You’re not supposed to actually learn about being a leader and all that as I’ve inferred from others’ descriptions of the weekend, so I really don’t even know why they call it that, to be honest. I guess I'll see.
