Summer To-Do List 2014

Hi there! It kind of finally feels like summer for me now that my vacation’s over (I know, it’s weird – I should’ve felt as if it was summer on vacation, but I didn’t), so I figured that now would be an appropriate time to put this up. It probably should’ve gone up about a week ago, but we can just ignore that bit.

I have lots planned for this summer already, as you could probably tell with my summer projects post where I shared with you a bunch of projects you could do over the summer that I’m also going to be taking part in. In addition to those, I also have a few other things I’d like to do this summer, but some of the projects will still be included on this list. I guess the word “few” is slightly misleading because I have quite a lot of things I’d love to do, so here they are. Maybe this will inspire you to add a few things to your list, or if you don’t already have one, maybe, just maybe, you should make one. After all, it’s always fun to have something to work towards.

Sunday Funday: June 29/14

Hi there! Oh gosh, where do I even begin? I guess I should start with the obvious – I’m back from New York. I know that I promised that I’d post throughout my trip, but pre-writing wasn’t possible due to school and while writing during my triitp was possible and I did manage to write a post, the Wi-Fi in both hotels that I’d been to were either absolutely terrible (as in it took half an hour to load a page at one point) or not free, so after realising this, I just didn’t bother trying. The post I'd scheduled to go up actually didn't even go up, which I'm kind of peeved about because I just realised this as I was writing this post. Sigh.

I know that I haven’t been the best at being consistent lately, but with the arrival of a new month means a chance to improve, so that, I’m incredibly happy about. I have lots planned for you this summer, so I’m really hoping that I’ll be able to pull it off. Of course, hoping and wishing only gets you so far, so I’m going to working my little butt off to make this work.

Haul: Pre-New York City Vacation Essentials

;)
Image via We Heart It
Hi there! I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to post like at all this week. It’s just been really busy with the last few days of school filled with exams and projects due, etc. so I really had to focus on those instead. But now I’m pretty much free, which feels pretty great.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been slowly buying things here and there for my trip to New York tomorrow (I still can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that in 24 hours, I’ll be in freaking NYC) ranging from swimwear to beauty products.

Since I wasn’t planning on doing a packing post sharing what I’m bringing with me, I figured this haul would be a fun little substitute. Enjoy!

DIY: Gold Star Wire Ring

Hi there! Well, what do we have here? Is this actually a DIY? Why, yes, it is! So yeah, today, you guys will be getting a DIY, something that I haven't done in way too long and have missed doing quite a bit. If you have any requests for a DIY, leave it in a comment at the end, tweet me, or write something on Facebook or ask.fm. I'd love some suggestions.

Anyway, this might look a bit familiar because the similar stars were in the gold star hair bow DIY I made around Christmastime (I even gave one away to a viewer!), but I've been loving stars lately, so I figured, why not turn it into a ring?

For DIYs, I generally gravitate towards wire because it's just really easy to use and pretty cheap, too. If you have a bit of wire, some pliers lying around (dads tend to have this stuff if you ask), a marker, and about an hour or so (the time completely depends on how big of a perfectionist you are), you have a dainty little wire ring in the making.

Keep reading to find out how to make this delicate star ring!

Happy Father's day
Hi there! I hope that you’ve all spent the morning doing something lovely to show appreciation for your fathers for those of you who are still lucky enough to still have your old man in your life. I just spent an hour and a half in the kitchen making breakfast for my daddy (yes, I still call him that) and I’m pretty proud.  I made pancakes, cranberry oatcakes, eggs, sausages, croissants, and a bunch of fruit, so it was a pretty hearty (and delicious, if I do say so myself) breakfast.

This week has probably been the craziest week of school so far, hence I haven’t posted since Monday. I’ll be done with school on Wednesday, so I’ll be able to dedicate more time to blogging, which will be so great.

Another prominent reason why I wasn’t able to post this week was because it was raining for half the week, making it rather difficult to take outfit photos. But don’t fret, these posts will go up, hopefully before I leave for NYC. As for posts while I’m gone, I’ll just schedule a few to go up on the regular schedule which is on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. So yeah.

I’m hoping for everlasting sunshine this week so things can go according to plan. Let’s hope.

Five Summer Projects to Try

Hi there! Summer is just around the corner and I know that for some of you, summer has already started (lucky ducks). Summer is that time of the year, for students especially, where we just get to enjoy and take a break while still getting a head start on all the things going on in the fall.

I’m particularly excited about this summer as I’ve got lots and lots of plans for it to be essentially the best summer I’ve ever had. A part of those plans are a few projects I’ve been thinking about working on and they certainly aren’t only limited to my life, so I thought I’d share five of them with you guys. Maybe this will inspire you to go out there and do something this summer. I believe that while spontaneity is fun and all, having goals is also really important and helps ensure success.

This post was requested by a really good friend of mine, and I know that she's been waiting patiently for this for a bit now, so this post is dedicated to her. I'm super stoked about this list, so let's get into this!

Hi there! One week of June has already gone by, eh? I hope that you’ve all had a good one because mine has been great, albeit being in exam prep mode. I’m actually not all too stressed about school, which makes me happy.

You know what makes me even happier? Knowing that I only have one and a half weeks of school left until summer. This year really has just flown by and I have a boatload of memories to show for it.

Father's Day Gift Guide 2014

Hi there! I feel like compared to Mother's Day, Father's Day is not nearly as hyped up as it should be. I mean, c'mon guys, your old men should be appreciated, too! So I put together a little gift guide for you guys of things I'd get my dad and things I think would be good for other dads, as well. I've included more inexpensive gifts and pricier ones that you might want to split with other family members.

Anyway, this post was supposed to go up on Wednesday, but somehow, I`d scheduled it, but it never went up... Which sucks because that messes with my schedule, but here it is anyway.

What I Did in Toronto: May 2014

Hi there! So like I told you guys a few weeks ago, I headed to Toronto a few weeks ago for a little family overnight trip for the long weekend. We didn't stay very long, but we did get to go to some pretty cool places. I took a bunch of photos, so after sifting through them all, I have a good few to show you guys with little stories attached to most (that aren't just pictures of fish), so let's get into it!

June's Big Five

Hi there! As you read this, you might recognise this post as another one of the “Five Things to Get Excited for” series, but like a few other columns on this blog, I’ve renamed it. That title was just awkward, but right now, I’m debating between a few titles – Month’s Five Things, Month’s Big Five, Five Month Things, and Month Bucket List. So yeah, I need your help so please let me know which one you guys like the comments!

Now, enough of me rambling, let’s get into what to expect this month. Oh goodness, I’m just so happy it’s nearly summer, guys. So many awesome things in store, and June’s just the beginning.

Sunday Funday: June 1/14

Image via We Heart It
Hi there! Oh my goodness, guys. It’s June. The sixth month of the year. How in the world did nearly half the year already go by? I still haven’t quite wrapped my mind around it and honestly, it’s making me a bit panicked to think of all the things that I still have left to do within those six months that will feel like five because December goes by in a heartbeat of stress and holiday shopping.

I’ve had such a lovely week, especially at the gym. I’ve been super busy and haven’t gotten very much sleep because of it, but I’m still really happy. I’ve spent about five days at the gym this week, so basically every week day and I just feel so much more refreshed. Before, whenever I got less than seven or eight hours of sleep, I felt really bleh for the rest of the day. It’s not that I was always tired, but my energy levels weren’t very high, which meant that my mood could only be so, err, bright? Whatever, I think you catch my drift.
